Welcome to
the debut installment of my weekly UK Rock Chart recap! Every week I will be
covering the most significant developments for rock artists on the UK charts,
focusing in on new releases from the hottest artists the genre has to offer. If
this proves popular then I will be sure to start a pop top 40 recap series
in the future, so let me know what you think! But for now, let’s take a dive
into this week’s biggest chart stories…
The
incredible new album from industrial metal titans Rammstein is continuing to
perform strongly, sitting atop the Rock Albums Chart for a second consecutive
week. The self-titled LP is having a similarly good time over on the main
albums chart, having dropped down to 23 after debuting at 3 last week. That was
highest UK debut of Rammstein’s career, while managing to remain in the top 25
for a second week is an impressive feat for any metal band, so props to them!
Frank
Carter & the Rattlesnakes are enjoying their fourth week in the Rock Albums
top 10 with the fantastic End of
Sufferring, which is now at number 10 and is shaping up to be their most
successful release to date. The latest record from classic metal act Diamond Head
has also debuted at number 5 on rock albums, which is nice to see considering
that the band never enjoyed the mainstream success of some of their early 80s
contemporaries.

Over on the rock singles chart, Slipknot’s newest track Unsainted has dropped from 2 to 7 in its second week. This is a fairly small second week drop so the anticipation for the
band’s upcoming new LP We Are Not Your Kind is clearly as huge as ever. Further
down the rankings, Bring Me The Horizon’s Mother Tongue re-entered the chart at 31, no-doubt
the result of the hype surrounding the band’s headline performance at All
Points East festival this past weekend (pictured). Just below that is Rammstein’s
Deutschland, spending its sixth week on the chart after re-entering last week
with the release of the German metal sestet's new record. Deutschland
is one of my favourite tracks of 2019 so far, so its great to see such a banger
continuing to do well.
Looking
ahead to next week, all eyes will be the on the performance of Yonaka’s debut
album Don’t Wait till Tomorrow,
easily my most anticipated record of this year. Be sure to check back here this
weekend for coverage of all the most important chart developments in the rock
world!
